Reliable Heating And Cooling Service Built On Accountability
My name is Nick Messick, and I’m the owner of Amp One Heating and Cooling.
Believe it or not, I got into the heating and cooling business because I don’t like being cold. When I was a kid, our heating system went out during the winter, and it left an impression on me. Anyone who knows me will tell you I’ve never handled the cold very well. I was the kid who would skip recess if it was freezing outside.
Which makes it kind of funny that I ended up building a career in HVAC in Montana of all places.
Over the years, I’ve found myself doing service calls on rooftops when it’s 50 degrees and the wind is howling, fixing heating systems so other people can stay warm. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being about me not liking the cold and became about making sure no one else has to deal with it either.
I started my HVAC career while I was still in high school and graduated in 2003. I went to trade school for heating, cooling, and refrigeration, but I had already started working in the industry doing air duct cleaning, HVAC maintenance, and repairs.
Around that same time, I worked in the maintenance department at a hospital. Whenever something major happened with the mechanical systems, we had to call in outside specialists to fix it. Watching those professionals solve big problems made an impression on me. I remember thinking, I don’t want to be the guy making the phone call, I want to be the pro people call.
After trade school, I moved into commercial refrigeration work in Montana, gaining experience with restaurant equipment and complex systems. Over time, I decided to start my own company. Like many technicians, I learned that being good at fixing equipment doesn’t automatically make you good at running a business. Some lessons came the hard way.
In recent years, I’ve focused on becoming better not just as a technician, but as a business owner building better systems, better service, and a better experience for customers.
Today I’m proud to have a great team alongside me, including Ben, Jesh, and Matt, who help keep things running smoothly. Together we work on heating, cooling, refrigeration, and restaurant equipment, and we’re strong believers in the importance of clean air and indoor air quality.
At the end of the day, the mission at Amp One Heating and Cooling is simple:
Keep your home or business comfortable, your equipment reliable, and the air you breathe clean.
